Unintended pregnancy, perinatal loss and reproductive health disparities, through an ethical, trauma-informed lens. Continuing Education · Self-study

Overview

Reproductive health is rarely shaped by a single decision. Trauma, mental health, relationships, poverty, culture, stigma, substance use, healthcare access and larger social systems all influence a person’s experience.

Through evidence-informed content and practice-focused scenarios, you examine unintended pregnancy, reproductive health disparities, perinatal loss and grief, psychosocial and economic impacts, ethical considerations, and barriers faced by vulnerable populations.

Learning objectives

  • Identify psychosocial, cultural, economic and systemic factors associated with unintended pregnancy among vulnerable populations
  • Explain behavioral health effects of unintended pregnancy and perinatal loss, including grief, anxiety, depression, trauma and family-system stress
  • Apply ethical, trauma-informed, culturally responsive principles when supporting affected clients
  • Identify counseling, referral and interdisciplinary strategies that support client autonomy, well-being and continuity of care
